Readers, can you believe that it’s June? That’s right, we are HALFWAY through 2017. And that means that it’s time for MACD & SWCDM’s Spring Board Meeting. We hope to see you in Helena next week! Meanwhile, in this week’s issue:

  • We introduce a new project that’s near and dear to my heart, the Montana Conservation Menu. It’s a website (kinda my jam, really) that we built to be a hub for information on Conservation Programs in Montana. You can check it out here: mtconservationmenu.org
  • Summer boating season is off to a roaring start, and already Montana’s AIS check stations have stopped three boats contaminated with mussels. I don’t know whether to cheer for the detection abilities, or be very scared by the number of contaminated vessels traveling the state.
  • NRCS says snowmelt has caused high water in streams across the state, and there’s more to come (they make it sound like a threat)
  • Montana has a thriving pulse crop industry (hello, #1 in nation), and Governor Bullock recently signed a couple of bills to help cement that status
  • Yellowstone Park says that its Judas Fish program is working, and will result in the eradication of lake trout in the park in a decade. (this is a good thing)
  • The Montana Ag Summit was last week, and it brought in a bunch of ag world big names.
  • We’d like to introduce you to our two new SGI Range Conservationists, who are already in the field doing fabulous work.
